What is Git?

The most important and the fundamental question before we move further is what is Git?
the easiest way to describe it is, to call it the Virtual Manager of any modern Software in this world.
It keeps the track of your software from the initial stages to the final deployment and even used after it.
It is basically used to store all the versions and the changes made to the project over the period of time in its entire development cycle.

Why is Git used?

It is used because majority of the modern software which are made requires multiple developers and collaborators, therefore it is essential to keep the track of the whole system and the advancements made over the period of time by different people.

Git Basics and Core Terminologies-

Repository

Commit

Staging

Branches

GitHub

Repository-

It is nothing but a fancy word for a folder in Git.

Commit-

It is the final code checkpoint like concept, where It is very useful to rollback to this specific version of the code if something goes wrong in the future.
Commit can be as many as possible

git commit -m "My first Commit"

Staging-

Staging is call the stage area where we keep the initial code changes before committing the code to the repository, we can Unstage the code if required

git add .

Branches-

If there are multiple people working on a same project Branches are very important and can save a lot of time and errors.

Multiple people can make multiple branches and can modify the code according to the requirement and can make a pull request to the main branch.

A main branch is a current code in the production and is therefore the most important branch as this branch describe the current software.

git branch -for seeing all the branches
git bracnh newbranch -for creating a new branch
git chekout branchname -for changing the branch

Github-

It is the online version of Git where someone can place there projects and code and can collaborate to any project anywhere in the world
